About

Balbina Garza Delgado

I have been working with children and their families for over two decades, gaining a deep understanding of the difficulties that parents can face when trying to help their children who present with challenging behaviours or painful emotions. Over the years, I have seen how these struggles can affect the entire family, and how vital early understanding and intervention can be.

Mental health and emotional wellbeing form the foundations from which we develop the capacity to learn, grow, and enjoy fulfilling lives. When difficulties arise in infancy or early childhood—such as trauma, domestic violence, emotional dysregulation, attachment struggles — they can shape a child's later experiences, influencing their education, relationships, and self-confidence.

Research shows that 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14 and 75% by age 24 (Allison & Campbell, 2019, Anna Freud Centre). These figures highlight the importance of early support, as timely intervention can alter the trajectory of a child's development and open the door to healthier outcomes.

Through my career, I have been fortunate to witness the transformative effects of psychotherapy on children's lives - the relief parents feel when they are finally able to understand what their child has been communicating through "symptom" behaviour, and the hope that comes with seeing progress. I am deeply passionate about prevention and by helping a child understand their own minds and emotions, I aim to equip them with the tools they need to move forward and build fulfilling, resilient lives.
